It can also be efficient.

For many teams this example is very recognizable, despite all efforts and good will, inefficient meetings are held. In a desperate attempt to waste little time, large staff meetings are often organised in which all subjects are discussed interchangeably (cost policy, possible mergers, sales strategies, etc...). There should be different meetings for different purposes; they can be divided into four groups.

...The first point in the meeting is long overdue...because people know they have plenty of time for a number of other points...later...

...the second item takes another 45 minutes...
...in the last quarter of an hour there are still three important points to discuss...
...the meeting is 20 minutes overdue...
...once again, the schedule can't be maintained, people start too late at the next meeting...
...some of them are frustrated because their subject was rewritten in five minutes...
...yet again, no time has been set aside for a free brainstorming session...
...somebody's frustrated because there's nothing going on about teambuilding...
...the chairman feels sucked out and is astonished that so many people are dissatisfied....
